I got a tab at Zan-zi-bar!

I'm unbelievably exhausted after an exhausted and exhausting day at the internship. However, I really needed to write down how amazing tonight was. I didn't write much about my summer while it was happening, so may as well write down the good stuff now.

[info]drama21vixen took me out to a vegan/vegetarian greasy spoon on the Lower East Side (who knew those existed?!). Then, as we walked towards her new Real Life apartment, we passed Sahara East and spontaneously decided to spend another 2 hours or so smoking a delicious hookah and being indulged by an adorable waiter who gave us free drinks, free hookah refills, and the promise of another free smoke next time we came in. We stumbled out, high on fruity oxygen deprivation. It was delicious.

[If only my mother knew of my wee thing for large, Middle Eastern men, she'd probably have a stroke. The abundance of Irish Catholics in my love life has been enough for her already.]

At any rate, it was an absolutely lovely, relatively unplanned and therefore completely relaxing evening. I think tonight, for the first time, I felt like I could really do this Real Life thing, just so long as I have friends like Anna to take me out and effortlessly cause me to forget whatever it was that might have been gnawing at the back (or the front) of my mind. The rest of you are fantastic, too. I'm lucky that I rarely if ever need reminders of this fact, but it's nice that I get them every so often anyway.

I should probably go to sleep, as I have the big publishing interview tomorrow afternoon, and in the move seem to have forgotten to pack knee-highs to go with my power suit. Apparently the only thing this neighborhood is lacking is a Duane Reade between the apartment and the ACE stop. Eh, small potatoes. Wish me luck!

Life, she is good. Yes she is.

Ah, the hookah. I try to limit myself to no more than twice a year, ideally only once.

But man, the decadence.

Good luck on the interview!

why is it that we never write things down when they're happening? I wonder this about myself too...

Sometimes it's easier to avoid writing down the good things when they're happening and succumb to the Pit o' Angst (tm). I don't know why this is, either, especially when having good things written down to reference later always helps during angsty times.

At least, it feels that way to me. I'm still glad that I wrote down so much about my Biodome life because it feels so good to read now.

Says the girl who's exhausted and slightly hungover. Ehhh.

:-) I had a lot of fun, too! I <3 Middle Eastern men, hookahs, and buffalo unchicken wings . . . must do it again soon!
